Do I need to make reservations?

About 10 years ago when my wife and I started learning about sea turtles we stumbled across this video. We originally thought the turtles on the beach had either gone there to die or were already dead. Iz's beautiful music combined with what we thought were deceased turtles made us very sad. We eventually learned the turtles were engaging in a behavior unique to Hawaii's marine turtle population, merely sleeping on the beach. We moved from Michigan down to Florida in 2015 where we became directly involved in sea turtle rescue and care, participating in nesting surveys for the FWC and volunteering at sea turtle care facilities. I also started scuba diving again, and have dove countless time with Greens, Loggerheads and Hawksbills in the Jupiter, FL area. All the way, we still hadn't made our way to Hawaii to see the turtles on the beach. That is, until this month when we finally took a vacation to Oahu. We spent the better part of 5 days on Laniakea Beach on the North Shore of Oahu hanging out with the known turtles there. Among them were Wholly Bully, Makana, and Olivia Dunn. We credit this video for helping spur of fascination with both sea turtles and Hawaii in general. It took some creative Googling to find this video again, but I finally spotted it again today. Aloha. Did you know that Hamama Falls is in a restricted watershed? This is because this area is a source that helps to provide the million plus residents and visitors of Oahu with drinking water. Every time someone goes hiking to the falls it has the potential to degrade the quality of the water supply. Please help us keep this limited natural resource as safe and pristine as possible by using a managed public trail instead. Mahalo.

Hamama Falls is not open to the public and it is illegal to access it at any time. Anyone attempting to reach the falls is trespassing and subject to citation by the Honolulu Police Department. The land surrounding Hamama Falls is located on a protected watershed managed by the Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS). The area supports Oahu’s fresh water system, which supplies the drinking water resources for more than 1 million people on island. As such, the BWS does not permit access of any kind so that the watershed may return to a more pristine state. Those cited are required to make a court appearance and may face fines up to $2,000, community service, and/or up to six months in prison. As you plan your outdoor activities on Oahu, please respect the island’s fresh water resources by not intruding onto protected watershed land. Announcements regarding closures of or conditions on public trails managed by the State of Hawaii may be found online at hawaiitrails.hawaii.gov.

I was boogie boarding on the North shore when a huge head popped up in front of me, I was taken completely by surprise by this huge beautiful creature just looking at me . I was amazed by him as he looked at me and then gracefully dove back down, he was wider and longer than my ancient fiberglass boogieboard. I went to the beach that they normally go to and then watched them sunning or lounging, as I got in the water to swim I saw the little ones zipping through the currents and shorebreak where vulcanic rocks made the water shallow but rough. These little speedy blurs were the most adorable things on the beach, and to think they would grow to be as huge as the one on the beach! That place was magical.

Oh no you went down there knowing there was asbestos just wearing a silly face mask. Sorry guys but they are no use what so ever. It would be in the air and transferred on your clothes. You would have breathed it in no matter what. My farther died from asbestos it was a very painful death. You have to wear full hazmat suits and it own air supply.
